Unnecessary, and much lauded, remake has a few minor changes from the original but is mostly faithful although it seems to be fairly miscast. Can't top the original but doesn't try to. ... A decent redux for those unfamiliar with the Hitchcock version, but purists will despise it. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
If nothing else, the Psycho remake proves that someone can take a great idea and an intelligent script and turn them into a bad film. All it takes is misinterpretation. And maybe a little narcissism. 41/100--Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)

It may have been an outrageous assault on every horror fans' artistic sensibilities, but it was a good marketing ploy. ... See the original and skip this.-- (eSplatter.com)
