Plot: After inadvertently freeing an evil Djinn from his gemstone prison, an auction house gemologist fights to bring his rampages to an end, as they include stealing the souls of the hapless humans whose wishes bring them to ironic early ends. Heavy on the computer-assisted effects, with some mitigating touches, such as Ted Raimi in a cameo and Englund as a stodgy art collector. Craven acted as Executive Producer, but later removed his name.

 External Reviews
external linkGood horror ties here too as Wes Craven was executive producer, make-up effects man Kurtzman directs, the aforementioned Atkins scripts and it features appearances by Robert Englund, Kane Hodder and other genre favs. Not a bad mindless timewaster. 2.5/4

external linkI didn't particularly care how the djinn turned people's wishes around on them, and I thought the ending was really predictable. The only good part is a deliciously evil performance by Andrew Divoff as the Wishmaster. 1.5/5
