The Haunted Mansion Reviews |
Although The Haunted Mansion starts promisingly and presents a wealth of possibilities, filmmakers decide to go the formulaic route to bring in the kiddies. Take them to Disneyland (or Disney World, depending) to see the real-life Haunted Mansion; they'll get it then. [read review] --Kit Bowen (Hollywood.com)
Though it captures the look and feel of its Disneyland namesake, the fun of the original ride is nowhere to be found. Combining an unremarkable script, lifeless performances, and a barrage of meaningless visual gags, it's as transparent and fleeting as ahitchhiking ghost. [read review] --John Dedeke (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
The Haunted Mansion is more likely to earn Zs than pocket change. Eddie Murphy has called, "Nap Time!" with a counterfeit grin so wide it's liable to put you in a lifelong coma [read review] --B. Alan Orange III (MovieWeb)
. At times funny, at times involving, at times even smart, The Haunted Mansion just never finds the balance between humor and horror that it needs in order to satisfy. [read review] 58/100 --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Warning: movies based on theme park rides can be bad as well as good. The Haunted Mansion has poor acting, a dismal script and only one scary scene. [read review] --Matthew Turner (ViewLondon)
A bit like one of its ghostly inhabitants, 'The Haunted Mansion' is impressive enough to look at, but lacks any real substance or vital pulse. [read review] 5/10 --Anton Bitel (Movie Gazette)
A winning combination of Eddie Murphy, rich design and effects work makes this a mildly thrilling family ride. [read review] --Sheri Linden (Hollywod Reporter)
