Plot: In London, the Art of War meets the Art of Diplomacy as U.S. Army General Dwight D. Eisenhower (Tom Seleck) suggested to General George C. Marshall that there be one single Supreme Commander. The indomitable Winston Churchill (Ian Mune) grudingly concedes, but it a decision that will pit "Ike" against formidable opposition from his own side--namely his British counterpart, General Sir Bernard Law Montgomery (Bruce Phillips), a war hero who led the British troops in a stunning defeat of the Axis powers in North Africa.Ika has the unqualified and unwavering support of his Chief-of-Staff, Walter Bedell "Beetle" Smith (Timothy Bottoms), but he will soon face challenges from his American colleagues, including a terse face-off with the ruthless and overbearing George S. Patton (Gerald McRainey). Time and again, Ike is faced with seemingly insurmontable challenges and forced to make unprecedented decisions. After an old friend, Major-Colonel Henry Miller (Paul Gittens) is overheard drunkenly revealing the invasion plans in a public place, Eisenhower must relieve him of his command and send him back to the States.
