Wrong Turn Reviews |
Overall, the film has some good moments and a few nice death scenes. I admit to having been startled a few times, but I still can’t recommend “Wrong Turn” after witnessing a self-destructive ending where a character must play Rambo and fight off the cannibals. [read review] 6/10 --Scott Spicciati (Movie-Vault.com)
Wrong Turn is not a total failure – in particular, the sound editing and Elia Cmiral’s original score add a degree of suspense to the otherwise pointless action. In the end, Wrong Turn is simply the victim of a tired genre, where better special effects and bigger budgets don’t necessarily make a better horror film. [read review] --David Levine (FilmCritic.com)
...overall Wrong Turn is cliché', the acting is lousy and the story is nothing special, but if you understand the intentions of Stan Winston going into this movie you'll love it! Wrong Turn is a extraordinary trip back in time to when horror was at its best. [read review] --Mr Disgusting (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
WRONG TURN does a decent job of doing what it needs to do in its niche, without getting too original at any point, without developing many of its characters at any point and without giving you much to remember three minutes after you walk out of the movie theater. [read review] 6/10 --'JoBlo' (JoBlo.com)
Finally! A teen oriented horror flick that's a straight-forward, balls-to-the-wall horror flick that's not packed with smirky, in-joke filled humour. ... A surprise minor hit in theatres this and House Of 1000 Corpses found themselves pegged as part of an apparent '70's horror revival' and though this is similar in plot to some 70's thrillers it manages to stand on its own and deliver a Hell of a fun time. Wrong Turn dips into the pool of urbanite terror dredged by Deliverance, and though it doesn't do so very deeply, it comes out of the water an enjoyable though not really satisfying horror-thriller. And dripping in blood, naturally. [read review] 58/100 --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
...the gore is disturbingly realistic, and the faux-teen cast is slaughtered in marginally creative fashions, but for all its frightful slasher intent, Wrong Turn fails simply because there’s not one iota of originality to it. [read review] --Marc Savlov (Austin Chronicle)
The film does achieve a couple of good, unexpected scares. And to the credit of Alan B. McElroy's script, these characters don't say nearly as many preposterous things as young people often do in this genre. [read review] --Anita Gates (The New York Times)
There are occasional moments of real flair from director Rob Schmidt, including some wonderfully gnarly death scenes and a few clever shocks that horror movie geeks will love (and will want to play back). [read review] --Jamey Hughton (MovieViews)
This is standard hack-and-giggle fare, with a few wisecracks mixed in with the gore. ... Actually, there is one sincerely scary moment. At the very end there is a strong hint of a sequel. [read review] --C.W. Nevius (San Francisco Chronicle)
Check this movie if you want to see a good horror flick that kicks the MPAA in the balls and plays homeage to classics with the same theme. Highly recommended. [read review] 8/10 --FrighT MasteR (UHM)
An efficient, unpleasant and tiresome hick horror flick, "Wrong Turn" is stocked with victims you won't care about, chased by villains you won't believe. [read review] --Nev Pierce (BBC Films)
"Dark Water" is a horror movie that sits there and drags and seems very full of itself, and is based on the premise that puddles are scary. They're not. [read review] --Ian Waldron-Mantgani (The UK Critic)
Excellent horror flick with good characters, impressively nasty death scenes and some genuinely scary ‘monsters’. You’ll never go into the woods again. [read review] --Matthew Turner (ViewLondon)
A predictable but well-made slasher - it would be much better if only it didn't stick so rigidly to a formula we all know off by heart. [read review] 6/10 --Gary Panton (Movie Gazette)
"Wrong Turn" is low-end schlock that will likely land with a dull thud in the video remainder bin before the frost is on the pumpkin. [read review] --Lou Lumenick (New York Post)
Joining the queue for this turkey is probably a wrong turn - and you may well wish that you could join in the carving. [read review] 3/10 --Anton Bitel (Movie Gazette)
Wrong Turn is a tense, unrelenting nightmare. [read review] --Carl Lazarevic (MovieWeb)
