Since arriving in Hollywood, EVA MENDES (April) has quickly ascended to stardom, with four major studio releases this year: “2Fast 2Furious,” in which she teamed with Paul Walker and Tyrese, playing an undercover agent infiltrating a secret racing circuit to bust a formidable gang of elusive drug traffickers.
Mendes received recognition for her role opposite Denzel Washington in the box office hit “Training Day” for director Antoine Fuqua. Her performance led to the Carl Franklin helmed “Out of Time,” once more starring opposite Washington. In “Out of Time,” Mendes plays a detective teamed with a small town police officer investigating a missing persons case. She was previously seen in the feature “All About the Benjamins,” starring opposite Ice Cube.
She appeared in “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” opposite Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp. This film is the final chapter of director Robert Rodriguez’s trilogy that started with “El Mariachi” and continued with “Desperado.”
Mendes also appears in the upcoming independent film “Wendell Baker” for directors Andrew and Luke Wilson.
In between her film assignments, Mendes found time to join an elite group of women, including Julianne Moore and Halle Berry, who represent Revlon Cosmetics in print and television commercials.
Mendes was born in Miami and raised in Los Angeles. She was discovered by a photographer who asked if he could shoot a session with her. These photos began a chain reaction of successes, landing her a manager, commercial and film roles, and agency representation. Mendes is studying with her thespian coach Ivana Chubbuck, the mentor to such actors as Elisabeth Shue and Halle Berry.
