Plot: The first in a series of films (TRIBULATION, REVELATION) that imagines the rapture and its aftermath, APOCALYPSE began the Christian film craze that includes the wildly popular film of the similar novel LEFT BEHIND. Here, a world crisis begins when the armies of the world converge on Israel, ready for global war, causing shockwaves of alarm to course throughout the world. The media is poised and waiting for something to happen when millions of people suddenly vanish from the face of the Earth, causing general chaos. As this chaos builds to its apex, Franco Macalousso appears and begins performing astounding miracles, amassing a large following and fueling speculation that he may be the messiah. Two news anchors, Bronson Pearl and Helen Hannah, are skeptical and the two race to uncover Macalousso's deceptive plot before he amasses too much power.
