Anachronisms: According to Adam the story began "near the summer of 1979". Young Fenton insists on seeing the movie Meatballs (1979) "again". Meatballs was not released until 28 June 1979. The boys were seen getting off a school bus earlier in the day, which would imply a date of no later than mid-June.

Anachronisms: In the opening scene when the boys get off of the school bus, the sidewalk has a disabled-accessible approach from the crosswalk. These types of crosswalks were not in use in the late 1970s.
