Synopses for There's a Girl in My Soup (1970)
1.

The best that can be said for There's a Girl in My Soup is that it is not quite as bad as its reputation. A belly flop in the careers of Peter Sellers and Goldie Hawn (she was fresh off her Oscar® for Cactus Flower), this Boulting brothers production did nothing to showcase the sparkling comic talents of those two performers. Sellers has some nice moments early as a famous TV-host twit, whose career as a serial seducer is halted after meeting hippie chick Goldie. It's one double-entendre after another: "You only want one thing," says one of Sellers's conquests. "Yes, but what a lovely thing," he sighs. Seen now, the movie is most fun for its goofy look at the gestalt of swinging London: Sellers' automated bachelor pad was surely an inspiration to the Austin Powers folks, and his checkered beige suit must be seen to be believed. --Robert Horton

2.Peter Sellers and Goldie Hawn star in this adaptation of Terence Frisby's hit stage comedy. After being ditched by her sexually-liberated boyfriend, a doe-eyed flowerchild is forced to crash at the bachelor pad of Robert Danvers, star of a popular gourmet-cooking program and a notorious London swinger. A committed lady-killer, Danvers' life is turned upside down when, to his surprise, he finds himself falling in love with his winsome house guest.

3.  A saucy romance for the amorous gourmet.

Two unique comic talents, Academy Award nominee Peter Sellers (Best Actor in a Leading Role - Being There, 1979 and Dr. Strangelove: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, 1964) and Academy Award winner Goldie Hawn (Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Cactus Flower, 1969) join forces in a saucy romance about an amorous gourmet whose goose is cooked when he falls for a giddy young temptress. Robert Danvers (Peter Sellers), a TV cooking expert who moonlights as a self-styled Casanova, runs into cheerfully amoral Marion (Goldie Hawn), who's been ejected by her boyfriend from their flat. After Robert installs Marion in his London love nest, he pursues her with complete incompetence and gets more than he bargained for. This not-so-dumb outrages his outrages begs her to come back, Robert has a choice-sharing Marion or losing her. Sellers' humor added to Hawn's zaniness makes one delicious comedy.
