Plot: "The Music Lovers" is director Ken Russell's surreal vision of the tragic life of Russia's great composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky spent his entire life trying to deny his homosexuality. To do so, he married Nina, a depraved young woman whose lascivious behavior horrified Tchaikovsky. And he quickly ended their ill-fated marriage after the honeymoon. But even after their separation, the couple's lives continued in a downward spiral, as nightmares of Nina's cruel fate proceeded to haunt Tchaikovsky.
