MARIANNE JEAN-BAPTISTE (Dr. Miriam Kent) received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in her feature film debut for the critically acclaimed Secrets & Lies.
She most recently starred opposite Rosie Perez in the feature film comedy 24 Hour Woman. The film revolves around the life of a talk show producer and her employee/best friend Madeline, played by Jean-Baptiste.
Jean-Baptiste can be seen starring in three independent features later this year; A Murder of Crows also starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.; How to Make the Cruelest Month, which won critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival and New Year's Day. She also stars in the Lifetime television film "Silent Hearts," and the original BBC telefilms "The Murder of Stephen Lawrence" and "The Man."
Jean-Baptiste's additional film credits include Mr. Jealousy with Eric Stoltz and the ABC/Oprah Winfrey telefilm "The Wedding" in which she starred opposite Halle Berry.
In addition to acting, Jean-Baptiste is also an accomplished playwright and composer. Having most recently composed the score for the Mike Leigh's feature film Career Girls and has four tracks featured on Jason Rabello's BMG jazz recording "Keeping Time."
Born in London the youngest of four children, Jean-Baptiste is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has starred in such London stage productions as "Great Big Shame" and "Measure for Measure." She has also appeared on the small screen in the British series "Cracker" and "The Shamen."
Jean-Baptiste recently wrapped production in North Carolina on 28 Days, in which she stars opposite Sandra Bullock.
When not filming, Jean-Baptiste resides in London wither her husband and daughter.
