Synopses for The Big Man (1990)

After a union strike, Scottish miner Danny Scoular finds he's unable to secure another job. Quickly growing weary of not being able to support his family, Danny agrees to fight a bare-knuckle match that will bring in some cash. But before Danny realizes it, he'll be the sparring slave of gang boss Matt Mason, a ruthless businessman who needs a fighter like Danny in his stable. While he's away training, his wife Beth, longing for the comforts of her middle-class upbringing, will take a lover. Hopefully, she'll find the strength to stand by her man because Danny may have to fight for his life.

A family man in Scotland finds himself unable to provide for his family, and reluctantly takes an offer to participate in bar-knuckle boxing matches to make ends meed. But the involvement in this deadly sport has its price and soon he wonders if he will be able to escape this violent world and remain the man he wants to be.
