Plot: A bitter tale of love and betrayal. Leto is Basil, a turn-of-the-century English lad who is under the intense scrutinization of his bitter father. He befriends John Mannion (Slater), a mysterious stranger who saves him from drowning one day. Mannion introduces Basil to Julia Sherwin (Forlani), a beautiful, aloof young woman with whom he immediately falls in love. In the heat of passion, he promises his inheritance to her, but eventually learns that he was being deceived all along. Drastic events unfold, forcing Basil to mature and take responsibility for his prior actions.
