Genre: Drama
Plot: Post Civil War drama that finds Amanda America Dixon (Beals) returning to her southern plantation home to discover that she is the sole inheritor to a vast cotton empire. Soon, however, she stumbles upon a revelatory secret - though she was raised by her father and grandmother to be the toast of white society, she is actually the daughter of a black slave who was her father's lover. It's only a matter of time before she must confront the racism and bigotry running rampant at the time.
