Shadow of the Vampire Reviews |
This is one nice looking film with moody production design and a muted yet extremely interesting premise. ... For fans of horror films who respect the classics and want to see something much more different than usual; for non-horror fans just for the engrossing story and acting. "Shadow" is not a film for every horror fan. It`s truly a thinking man`s horror picture. There isn`t a high body count, very little action and the humor is understated. But it`s a marvelous little fear flick and its ending offers up one of the most horrifying on screen since the original "Blair Witch" scared the wits out of some of us in 1999. Shadow of the Vampire successfully captures the heavy contrast between light and dark, the jagged contrasts between colors, and the general uneasy ambiance that is part and partial of German Expressionism. It is moody, it is atmospheric, and it will makeyour heart race without actually doing anything. [read review] --Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
What Shadow of the Vampire is, in fact, is the insightful and darkly humorous execution of a fascinating and original concept. It features humor surprising for such an ostesibly dark film. [read review] --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
