High school misfit Neil Lawrence (DJ Qualls, ROAD TRIP) is sent to a prestigious boarding school by his New York Governor father in an effort to put him on the path to success. But when Neil meets beautiful, wild teenager T.J. (Rachel Blanchard), he finds a more than adequate partner in crime. After his professor assigns him a paper on THE CATCHER IN THE RYE's Holden Caulfield, Neil and T.J. hit the road in search of the beloved book's elusive author and have the adventure of their young lives. Co-star Sean Kanan also wrote the script.

Outsider and known rebel Neil Lawrence is sent to an elite boarding school by his father, the Governor of New York, in an attempt to turn him into a "model" citizen. When he meets T.J. a beautiful, feisty local girl, who loves trouble as much as he does, the stage is set for a truly remarkable relationship. After his professor instructs the class to write a paper on Holden Caulfield, the main character in J.D. Salinger's classic novel Catcher In The Rye, Neil knows he's finally found a way out of his father's shadow. Neil and T.J ditch school and head to New York City in pursuit of an adventure that comes packed with more twists and turns than they could have even imagined.
