Genre: Comedy
Tagline: Meet The Gayest Lady Who Ever Went To Town!
Plot: A hilarious screwball comedy that skillfully contrasts the mores and manners of sophisticated New Yorkers with small town Connecticut life. Theodora Lynn is a Sunday school teacher and church organist in Lynnfield. Under a pseudonym, she writes a decadent novel, "The Sinner," which is serialized in the local newspaper. The village is outraged and a group moves to stop it. Theodora takes a trip to New York to meet with her publisher and tells him she can't publicize her work because it would ruin the family name. While in the city, however, Theodora meets Michael, the novel's illustrator, and becomes involved in a real-life romantic scandal. Not only is Michael the son of the lieutenant governor, but he's still married to his estranged wife!
