The legendary Sherlock Holmes plunges us into this thrill ride of a murder mystery set on a speeding passenger train. Holmes has been entrusted to guard the transport of the 400-carat diamond, Star of Rhodesia, but when the gem is stolen, the murders start to mount. Only the masterful Holmes can deduce which of the eccentric and suspicious passengers is the true criminal.
  

2.Master sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) is hired by the wealthy widow Lady Margaret (Mary Forbes) and her son Roland Carstairs (Geoffrey Steele) to prevent the theft of an enormous diamond known as the "Star of Rhodesia." Traveling by train from London to Edinburgh, Holmes guards the priceless jewel with the help of Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) and Inspector Lestrade (Dennis Hoey). But when the diamond disappears and Roland is found murdered, Holmes must deduce the murderer's identity from among the speeding train's many suspicious passengers, including Dr. Watson's old friend Major Duncan-Bleek (Alan Mowbray). Dripping with atmosphere and claustrophobic suspense, TERROR BY NIGHT is a true classic in the pantheon of Sherlock Holmes mysteries.   

3.Holmes is hired by Roland Carstairs to prevent the theft of the Star of Rhodesia. Believing the diamond will be stolen on a train trip from London to Edinburgh, Holmes deftly switches the diamond. Soon after, Roland is murdered and the fake diamond is stolen. Holmes, aided by Dr. Watson and Inspector Lestrade, discovers the murderer's hiding place and deduces that long-time foe Moriarty's henchman Colonel Moran is somehow involved.
