Tagline: Baretta is Willie Boy!
Plot: Willie Boy, a Piute Indian (Robert Blake) who kills a man in self-defense, becomes a fugitive from the law. With a massive manhunt gathering on his trail (led by Robert Redford as the sherriff), he in turn is forced into becoming the stereotypical image of the Native American "savage" that led his accusers to naturally assume he was guilty of the crime. This stylish, modern, and critically acclaimed Western with a social conscience marked writer/director Abraham Polonsky's return to film after having been blacklisted in the 1950s during the McCarthy witch hunts. Cinematography is by Academy Award winner Conrad Hall (AMERICAN BEAUTY (2000)).
