Plot: During World War II, the American Theatre Wing ran New York's Stage Door Canteen for the benefit of soldiers on leave. It was frequented by many stars, some of whom graciously performed menial tasks, while others entertained the crowd. Dozens of those celebrities appear as themselves in this lavish musical about romances that blossom between canteen employees and soldiers. Tunes include "We Mustn't Say Goodbye", "Bombshell from Brooklyn", "The Lord's Prayer", "Ave Maria", and "Flight of the Bumble Bee".
