DAVID McNALLY (Director) makes his motion picture debut with Jerry Bruckheimer’s "Coyote Ugly."
He hails from the world of television commercials where his work has been honored with many major international advertising awards: Cannes, Clio, Andy’s, One Show, London International, D&AD, International Monitor, Bessie, Telly, New York Festival, and many more.
His popular Budweiser "Lobster" spot which debuted during the 1999 Super Bowl was voted the most popular Super Bowl commercial amongst beer makers’ target audience, according to a USA Today poll. "Entertainment Weekly" voted it Top Super Bowl Spot, and the prestigious advertising industry publication, AdWeek, featured the commercial in its Top 10 commercials of 1999.
McNally was on his way to becoming an engineer when the lure of a more creative life proved too much. He left college to tour with his popular Canadian rock band, The Pinups, while building his own graphic design business. A Canadian corporate giant, high fashion retailer Le Chateau, asked McNally to move in-house to conceive cutting edge marketing opportunities, which included producing and directing fashion videos for the company.
With his established musical background, the fashion videos became a springboard into the world of music videos. McNally’s award-winning videos for Canadian artists such as Celine Dion caught the industry’s attention and he soon found himself expanding his mastership to include television commercials.
He is presently a director and partner in the Canadian commercial production company, M.E.A.T., and is represented for television commercials in the United States on both coasts by Omaha Pictures.
McNally is currently in pre-production on the Jerry Bruckheimer production, "Down and Under" for Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Bros. The action/comedy is set to go before cameras next summer.
