Plot: Sissy Spacek stars in this film, which her husband, Jack Fisk, directed. Nita Longley works every day as a telephone operator in a tiny Texas town. Years earlier, her husband abandoned Nita and her two small children. When an engaged sailor borrows her phone to make a momentous call, he inadvertently changes the lives of her kids, the townsfolk -- and Nita herself.
