Tagline: April 1917 -- when the scratch of a pen on Capitol Hill caused crowns to rattle.
Plot: In this Laurel and Hardy comedy classic, the boys are connived into enlisting. After trying their darndest to fit in, they can't even march correctly, forcing their frustrated drill sergeant to assign them to the one detail he thinks they can handle--the kitchen. Stan and Ollie prove even KP is beyond their ken when they dump trash on the general's floor. After cooling their heels in the brig, the bumbling pair, along with buddy Eddie Smith, move to the front. When Eddie is killed in action, Stan and Ollie track down Eddie's young daughter, who has been taken in by abusive foster parents. Stan and Ollie take the girl to find her grandparents. Unfortunately, the only clue to the elderly couple's whereabouts is their last name--Smith. Three days, one hour and 56 minutes later, Stan and Ollie still haven't found the girl's grandparents, so they resort to desperate--and very funny--measures.
