Plot: A riff on the classic John Wayne Western ANGEL AND THE BADMAN, THE OUTSIDER is a made-for-cable film about love and religion colliding with the machismo and violence of America's Wild West. The lovely Naomi Watts stars as Rebecca Yoder, a religious widow whose husband has been murdered by an evil band of cattle ranchers. When wounded gunslinger Johnny Gault (Tim Daly) rolls into town, Rebecca forges an unexpected relationship with the cynical stranger as she nurses him back to health. But as her feud with the ranchers escalates to boiling point and Johnny moves in to settle the score, Rebecca finds herself forced to choose between her burgeoning love for him and commitment to her pacifist religious beliefs. This sweeping romantic Western, beautifully shot in the wilds of Queensland, Australia, features strong cameo performances by genre stalwarts David and Keith Carradine.
