Based on the wildly popular video game series, Resident Evil is an action-packed thriller starring Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element), Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast and the Furious) and Eric Mabius (Cruel Intentions) in a battle of good and evil, human versus computer, the living against the Undead.Something terrible is lurking in the Hive, a vast underground genetic research facility run by the Umbrella Corporation, a faceless bio-engineering conglomerate. A deadly viral outbreak occurs, and in response, the Red Queen - a vast supercomputer that controls and monitors the Hive - seals the entire facility to contain the leak, killing all the trapped employees. Alice (MILLA JOVOVICH) and Rain (MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ) must lead fellow commandos to isolate the virus that has wiped out Umbrella’s entire research staff. The team soon discovers, however, that the workers are…not…really…dead. They are now the ravenous Undead, and they are prowling the hive. One bite or scratch from an Undead causes infection and worse, instant transformation into their kind. Paul Anderson's slick sci-fi thriller is, if anything, more violent, trashy and mindless than the popular games that inspired it. --Neil Smith (BBC Films)
Featuring a host of gory creatures, two kick-ass female heroes, a crew of marines just waiting to be chomped on, a blistering techno soundtrack and a sinfully flashy visual design, Resident Evil – against all odds – turns out to be one of the best popcorn flicks in quite some time. 71/100--Scott Weinberg (Apollo Guide)
Disappointing horror flick, with only the Zombie Dogs and Jovovich’s skimpy zombie-busting attire to recommend it. --Matthew Turner (ViewLondon)
Good entertaining movie. A lot better than I thought it would be. This should satisfy zombie fans and fans of the video game. Check this movie out and look out for the sequel! 8/10-- (UHM)
Basically this is mindless entertainment that has less shambling zombies than expected, some okay action sequences and one really cool moment involving a laser defence system. But overall this is just above a ** rating due to not really being anything much special. ... It's a better video game adaptation than most but could've been better. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Evil is like a high-tech version of George Romero's Day of the Dead with all that pesky dialogue and subtext removed. ... With no real chracters, it's just a series of action scenes tied together with a thin narrative thread. For those who don't feel like thinking while watching an action flick. 31/100--Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)

I'm going to recommend this movie because it does feature zombies. But it's surprisingly un-gory. Watching it will make you hunger for gore fests like "ROTLD" and the original "Dawn."-- (eSplatter.com)
Although this movie wasn’t fantastic, it was quite enjoyable, I recommend this as a one time see, and I think this is a theater see, watching it on DVD wont do. --Mr Disgusting (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
