VANESSA WILLIAMS (Carmen) is a multi-faceted actress and singer who has sold over four million albums worldwide. Born in Millwood, New York, Williams won a Presidential Scholarship in Drama and majored in musical theater at Syracuse University. Her debut album, "The Right Stuff," went gold and earned her three Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist.
In the past several years, Williams has had a critically acclaimed nine-month run on Broadway in "Kiss of the Spider Woman," more hit albums, multiple Grammy nominations and a concert tour that covered 25 American cities plus Japan and Southeast Asia.
Williams made her film debut in 1986’s "Under the Gun" and went on to appear in "The Pick-Up Artist," "Another You" and "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man." Her first starring role was in "Eraser" opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, followed by "Hoodlum," "Dance With Me," "Light It Up" and "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland."
She won an NAACP Image Award for her performance in "Soul Food," which was also honored as NAACP’s Best Picture.
She has given impressive performances in television films such as "Stompin’ at the Savoy," "The Jacksons: An American Dream" (for which she received an Image Award), "Bye Bye Birdie," "The Odyssey" (which brought her an Image Award nomination) and "Don Quixote." She recently starred in Lifetime’s "The Courage to Love," which also marked her producing debut.
