Tagline: Between land and power lies the frontier of greed... the saga of family... the heart of drama.
Plot: Ranch tycoon John Lear (Patrick Stewart) divides his considerable property between two daughters (Marcia Gay Harden and Lauren Holly). A battle breaks out for the land and Lear learns the value of peace. This reworking of William Shakespeare's KING LEAR is set in a Western milieu with stunning Texas scenery. Using a post-Alamo setting, this adaptation surprisingly retains the complexity of Shakespeare's characters. Originally aired on cable, the film also features terrific supporting work from Roy Scheider.
