Tagline: Someone has taken their love of sequels one step too far.
Plot: The hip, darkly comical sequel to self-aware Scream 2 Sidney Prescott, now in college, once again finds herself the target of a bloodthirsty, cloak-clad, mask-wearing, knife-wielding, psychotic killer whose penchant for pop movie trivia runs deep. This time, however, the body count is higher and the deaths more outrageous--traits of a true sequel, as noted by one unfortunate victim. Not as pithy as the first film, but still a satisfying, definite true-to-form teen slasher.

By far the worst aspect of Scream 2 was the identity of its murderers. Whereas it was a major plot device of the original Scream for the audience to try to figure out who the antagonist really was ("Everybody's a suspect!"), the sequel's choice for its killer seems completely arbitrary and out of left field. This was just the icing on the cake for a movie that lost my interest the second it killed its enjoyment-center off.--Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Whereas the first film had some amusing little jabs and pokes at the genre this falls into the cliches it liked to 'wink knowingly' at. As feeble as the type of films it's making fun of with a really pathetic finale. ... You won't 'Scream' for more. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Unlike its predecessor, it does not become like one of the films it satirizes but instead finds new, inventive ways of looking at the genre as a whole. --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)

Wonderful sequel to the classic "Scream," this one picks up around more than a year after the events of the last film. ... "Scream 2" isn't, of course, as brilliant as its predecessor, but it delivers.-- (eSplatter.com)
