Plot: Jason Robards and Mia Farrow head an all-star cast in this drama that is equal parts romantic drama and disaster opus.

Having recently arrived from Boston, prim Navy brat Charlotte Bruckner reunites with her domineering father, a U.S. sea captain stationed in Bora Bora. Then Charlotte meets the leader of a group of natives, Matangi, who engages her in a torrid affair.

Meanwhile, a tropical storm brews off-shore, promising more destruction than any of its kind. This evolving calamity is just one manifestation of the emotional turmoil bubbling over here...
