Director Baumbach filmed this witty comedy in only six days on a shoestring budget, and, to his credit, it is better written and better looking than most big budget comedies out there. The film follows a group of friends, some single, some not, to three parties in the space of a year. Typically, these parties bring out the worst in some of the friends as these social gatherings tend to amplify people's good qualities as well as their hostilities. An excellent and well-observed comedy, made all the better by its impressive cast.
