Tony Goldwyn in Someone Like You... (2001)

Acclaimed actor TONY GOLD WYN (Director) made his directorial debut last year with "A Walk on the Moon" starring Diane Lane, Viggo Mortensen, Liev Schreiber, and Anna Paquin. The film, produced by Goldwyn along with Dustin Hoffman's Punch Productions and Village Roadshow Pictures, premiered at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival and opened to much critical acclaim.

Goldwyn's new passion for directing has not halted his acting career. He recently co-starred in the thriller "The Sixth Day" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and played Gwyneth Paltrow's husband in "Bounce." Last year, Goldwyn completed production in Hungary on "American Rhapsody" opposite Natassja Kinski; and on "Song of the Lark" for PBS opposite Allison Elliot.

In 1999 Goldwyn provided the voice of the title character in the animated feature film "Tarzan," which opened to rave reviews and box oftice success. Goldwyn also portrayed astronaut Neil Armstrong in the highly-acclaimed HBO mini-series "From the Earth to the Moon," produced by Tom Hanks and Imagine Entertainment.

On the directing front, future development projects include "Then She Found Me" starring Helen Hunt, "Georgia Rule" for Fox 2000 and Lynda Obst Productions, and written by Oscar nominee Mark Andrus ("As Good As It Gets") and "Dinner for Two at the El Cortez," re-teaming Goldwyn with Dustin Hoffman's Punch Productions.

Goldwyn made his feature acting debut in "Gaby, A True Story," directed by Luis Mandoki, with Liv Ullman and Norma Aleandro. He then gained international attention for his performance in the 1990 box office smash "Ghost" opposite Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg. Goldwyn played another memorable screen villain in Alan Pakula's "The Pelican Briet" starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington, and based on John Grisham's best-selling novel. He also appeared with Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd in the thriller "Kiss the Girls," based on James Patterson's bestseller and co-starred with Sarah Jessica Parker, Timothy Hutton, and Ron Rifkin in the critically-acclaimed "The Substance of Fire," based on Jon Robin Baitz's award-winning play.

Other credits include the action comedy "Kuffs" opposite Christian Slater, HBO's "The Doomsday Gun," with Kevin Spacey and Frank Lagella, Showtime's "Love Matters" with Gina Gershon and Griffin Dunne; and a wonderfully ghoulish episode of "Tales from the Crypt" with Beau Bridges. He also shot two independent films: "Trouble on the Corner," in which he stars with Debi Mazar and Joe Morton, and "The Lesser Evil" with David Paymer and Arliss Howard.

Goldwyn was seen in Craig Lucas's "The Dying Gaul" at the Vineyard Theater in New York. In 1992 he starred opposite Kevin Bacon in the hit comedy "Spike Heels" by Theresa Rebeck at the Second Stage. In 1991, Goldwyn won an Obie® Award for his performance in David Steven's Off-Broadway hit "The Sum of Us" at the Cherry Lane Theater. He spent several seasons at the Williamstown Theater Festival. Credits there include: William Inge's "Picnic," co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Blythe Danner (1991); "Carthaginians" by Irish playwright Frank MeGuinness (1990); as well as the title role in "Tom Jones," and roles in "Oedipus," "Peer Gynt," "Uncle Vanya," and "Vieux Carre."

He made his New York theater debut in 1985 in "Digby," directed by Ron Lagomarsino at the Manhattan Theater Club. Other theater credits include "The Lion in Winter" directed by Gerald Gutrierrez for the Chautauqua Festival, "The Real Thing" at the Mark Taper Forum, the Broadway production of "Holiday" with Laura Linney, and "Pride and Prejudice" at the Long Wharf Theater.
