Amy Madigan in Pollock (2000)

"Pollock" marks the fourth time AMY MADIGAN (Peggy Guggenheim) has successfully collaborated with her husband, Ed Harris. In addition to co-starring in TNT's highly acclaimed adaptation of Zane Grey's novel "Riders of the Purple Sage" (a two-hour telefilm which the couple co-produced for Madigan's company Amer Productions), she has starred opposite him in Robert Benton's Academy Award-winning "Places in the Heart," and in Louis Malle's "Alamo Bay." Madigan recently appeared in Susan Streitfeld's independent feature "Female Perversions," and Erin Dignam's "Loved," which co-starred Robin Wright Penn, William Hurt, and Sean Penn, and which won the actress an IFP West Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Currently, she's working on her latest feature film, Peter Gilbert's "A Time For Dancing."

In 1986, Madigan received an Oscar nomination for her performance as the angry daughter of Gene Hackman and Ellen Burstyn in "Twice in a Lifetime." Her other film credits include "Love Letters," "Streets of Fire," "Robert Benton's Academy Award-winning "Places in the Heart," "Field of Dreams," with Kevin Costner, "Uncle Buck," with John Candy, and "The Dark Half," with Timothy Hutton.

Madigan's TV credits include the NBC telefilm "Roe Vs. Wade," co-starring Holly Hunter, for which she won a Golden Globe award for Best Actress; HBO's "A Bright, Shining Lie," co-starring Bill Paxton; Lifetime's "And Then There Was One" (Cable Ace Award, Best Actress); Robert Altman's production of "The Laundromat" (Cable Ace, Best Actress) which she starred in with Carol Burnett; and two CBS telefilms, "Having Our Say," co-starring Ruby Dee, and "In the Name of the People," co-starring Scott Bakula. Most recently, she co-starred in the Penny Marshall-produced ensemble comedy "With Friends Like These" that aired on Starz Cable Network and the CBS telefilm "Having Our Say," co-starring Ruby Dee and Diahann Carroll.

Madigan studied at the Chicago Conservatory and was trained in acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Her stage credits include playing Stella in Gregory Mosher's Broadway revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire," also starring Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin, and L.A.T.C.'s production of Eduardo Machado's "Stevie Wants to Play the Blues."
