 Synopses for Bad Manners (1997)
1.A musicologist and his new girlfriend have dinner at the home of a married couple, one of whom is the musicologist's old lover. Games of deception and intrigue follow as small mistakes blossom into arguments and deceits, while a new computer program may or may not have uncovered a fascinating secret. A bitterly funny look at academic jealousy and power in relationships.

2.  Sex. Larceny. Betrayal. Just another weekend in New England…

The critics called Bad Manners, when it made its theatrical debut, "Powerful," "Witty," "Provocative," and Siskel and Ebert gave the film their highest praise, "Two Thumbs Up!" It's little wonder, with such a fusion of talent - Bonnie Bedelia (Die Hard), David Straithairn (L.A. Confidential, 8 Men Out), Saul Rubinek (Unforgiven, Wall Street) - in place to rouse the passions and explore the psyches of the four protagonists.

Director Johnathan Kaufer (Soup for One) delivers David Gilman's celebrated stage and screenplay with all the power of its closely-themed predecessor "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," and the game-playing mystique of Anthony Shaffer's Sleuth. Professor, temptress, thief, schemer or saint, they are everybody's fool in Bad Manners.
