ROGER MICHELL (Director) has rapidly made his mark as a film director, following a string of successes in theatre and television. His "Notting Hill," starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, was a smash hit. His BAFTA winning film "Persuasion" was among the earliest of the recent successful Jane Austen adaptations. He also directed and co-wrote the award winning television serial "The Buddha of Suburbia," directed the film version of his own multi-award winning West End theatre production "My Night With Reg," and directed Joe Penhall's first play for London's National Theatre, "Blue/Orange."

Michell's feature "Titanic Town," set in Belfast, with Julie Walters, recently received its U.S. release. He also directed the British television film "Ready When You Are, Mr. Patel" and the 1991 British miniseries "Downtown Lagos."

Michell currently resides in London with his wife, actress Kate Buffery, and their two young children.
