Six-time Tony Award nominee ROB MARSHALL directed and choreographed Disney/ABC’s critically acclaimed movie musical Annie, for which he was nominated for a Director’s Guild Award, an Emmy Award for Best Director, and won an Emmy for Best Choreography. The tele-film starring Academy Award winning actress Kathy Bates garnered huge ratings (the top rated made-for-TV movie for 1999), and a host of accolades including a Peabody Award, a TV Guide Award, and twelve Emmy nominations. Prior to this he directed and choreographed the Tony Award winning Broadway production of Little Me, starring Martin Short.

He made his directorial debut co-directing and choreographing the critically hailed Kander and Ebb revival of Cabaret, which won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, and an Outer-Critics Circle Award for Best Revival. He went on to direct Promises Promises for the City Center Encores! series. Other recent choreography credits include the feature film, The Cradle Will Rock, directed by Tim Robbins, the Disney/ABC movie musical Cinderella, featuring Whitney Houston, and the CBS movie musical Mrs. Santa Claus, starring Angela Lansbury. Recent Broadway choreography credits include the revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum starring Nathan Lane and subsequently Whoopi Goldberg, the stage production of Blake Edwards’ Victor Victoria starring Julie Andrews, and a revival of Steven Sondheim’s Company at the Roundabout.

Mr. Marshall also choreographed the Broadway revival of “Damn Yankees,” the national tour featuring Jerry Lewis, and the London production for which he received an Olivier nomination. Prior to that he created the choreography for the Tony award winning Broadway production of “She Loves Me,” which also played a successful run in London, garnering another Olivier nomination for Mr. Marshall. He made his choreographic Broadway debut with “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” directed by Hal Prince. He subsequently choreographed “The Petrified Prince” at the Public Theater, which was also directed by Mr. Prince.

Mr. Marshall also directed a new version of “Chess” for the Paper Mill Playhouse and directed a production of Kander and Ebb’s “Chicago” in Los Angeles starring Bebe Neuwirth, which received the LA Drama Critics Circle Award as well as a Dramalogue award for Mr. Marshall.

Mr. Marshall is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University.
