WINONA RYDER stars as a woman of devout faith who has been assisting her priest with exorcisms, opening her up to a shocking revelation about a non-believer. Ryder has received two Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award. Her portrayal of the feisty Jo in Gillian Armstrong's version of the classic Little Women earned her a nomination for Best Actress just a year after her work in Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence gamered her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. For the latter, she also won Golden Globe and National Board of Review Awards.
Her recent roles include Woody Allen's Celebrity and Nicholas Hytner's adaptation of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, opposite Daniel Day Lewis. Ryder will next be seen in Girl, Interrupted, based on the critically acclaimed book about a young woman's institutionalization. Ryder co-produced the film, which is written and directed by James Mangold and also stars Angelina Jolie, Brittany Murphy and Whoopi Goldbertg.
Her many memorable films include Al Pacino's documentary Looking for Richard, Jean Pierre Jeunet's Alien: Resurrection, Jocelyn Moorhouse' How to Make an American Quilt, Billie August's The House of the Spirits, Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula, Jim Jarmusch's Night on Earth and Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. She made her acting debut in Lucas, came of age in the cult comedy classic Heathers and received a Golden Globe nomination for Mermaids.
In 1997, Ryder was named Female Star of the Year at ShoWest and received an honorary degree from San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre, Where her career as an actress began. In 1998 she served as a juror for the 51st Cannes International Film Festival under Martin Scorsese.
Ryder is currently developing Roustabout with Smoke Signals director Chris Eyre for New Line Cinema.
