Plot: Set in twelfth-century Muslim Andalusia, DESTINY is the story of the philosopher Averroes, whose beliefs on the need for freedom of speech and thought are considered heretical. The Caliph and one of his sons supports Averroes, but another son joins the opposing fundamentalists. Complications and intrigue ensue, while the characters occasionally break into song. A unique philosophical-musical film about Arab history, with a political message leavened by romantic adventure. Filmed in Syria.
