Tagline: A devilishly dark horror comedy from the director of ACCION MUTANTE

Plot: The clergyman Angel Berriatúa of the University of Deusto has been studying the cabalistic riddles of the Bible, and believes that the Anti-Christ will be born in Madrid on the next Christmas. With the help of some metalheads and a TV program host, he hopes to draw the devil out and kill the baby that will become the bringer of the apocalypse.

A priest in Madrid, with the help of heavy metal record store clerk and a TV reality show guru, attempts to kill a baby (who will be born on Christmas Day) that, all signals say, will be the Antichrist. De La Iglesia's violent, chilling, outrageous horror comedy combines elements of John Waters and Pedro Almodovar with traditional horror elements for this unique piece of work which got raves at several film fests and was nominated for 14, and won 6 Goya Awards (Spain's equivalent to the Academy Awards) including Best Director and Best Special

external linkBrilliant, funny, daring, ingenius. ... Although, "El Dia de la Bestia," as it's known in Spain, isn't exactly a horror film, it has enough of the elements to satisfy most fear fanatics. ... It's definitely one of the greatest anti-Christ flicks ever, though, so look for it.
