Plot: A mysterious 80-year-old woman known as Lady L. recounts for her biographer the story of her life. We see her first as a laundress in Paris who falls in love with a misguided anarchist. When he gets involved in a plot to assassinate a Prince, Lady L. leaves him to marry a wealthy Englishman, but only on the condition that he use his influence to help her former lover. By the end of the film, Lady L. has demonstrated how she earned her reputation for having a foot in the world of the rich as well as in the underground.
