HUGH JACKMAN comes to the fore as Leopold, a dashing 19th century romantic who finds the woman of his dreams and the challenge of his ltfe in a 21st century realist with whom he falls in love.

Jackman made his first major U.S. film appearance starring as the comic-book character Wolverine in the hit sci-fi action film "X-Men." He has been shooting back-to-back films ever since, including the box-office hit "Swordfish" with John Travolta and "Someone Like You" opposite Ashley Judd.

Prior to his arrival in Hollywood, Jackman could be found on the stage as Curly in Trevor Nunn's revival of "Oklahoma!" at London's West End. His perfor mance garnered a Best Actor in a Musical nomina tion for an Olivier Award.

His other credits include leading roles in the Australian independent feature films "Paperback Hero" and "Erskineville Kings," for which he received the Australian Film Critics Circle Best Actor Award as well as a nomination for Best Actor by the Australian Film Industry Jackman has appeared in the Australian television series "Corelli" and "Halifax f.p.," as well as leading roles in productions of "Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast" and "Sunset Boulevard."

Jackman was named Australian Star of the Year in 1999 at the Australian Movie Convention (A MC), which is equivalent to Sho West. He twice received the MO Award, the Australian equivalent to the Tony, for Best Actor in a Musical for his perfor mance in "Sunset Boulevard," and a MO Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for "Beauty and the Beast."

Jackman was born in Sydney of English parentage and is the youngest of five children.
