Tagline: Jennifer Has A Few Million Close Friends. She's Going To Need Them _All_.
Plot: Jennifer Corvino (Connelly), who is able to communicate telepathically with insects, is sent to an eerie Swiss boarding academy for girls where the students are being butchered by a vicious serial killer. Guided by wheelchair-bound bug specialist, Dr. McGregor (Pleasance), she must find the killer before he finds her. Beautiful school girls, weird faculty, maggots, mutants and a chimpanzee with a razor, this is Italian maestro Dario Argento's most outrageous movie. Darkly fanciful and almost dream-like, Phenomena is Argento's favorite among his films, though during production he claimed it was "a story I took from the outside."Released in the US in heavily edited form as CREEPERS in 1986, Italian horror master Dario Argento's masterpiece manages to be involving and interesting while providing a steady stream of funhouse style shocks. Jennifer Corvino (Connelly) is attending a Swiss boarding school for girls when she discovers she is able to communicate telepathically with insects. When a serial killer begins murdering students, bug specialist Dr. McGregor (Pleasance) must help her use her powers to find the killer. With a soundtrack featuring Motorhead and Iron Maiden making the experience ever more disorienting, you won't know where Argento is taking you next. Check the run

When all is said and done this isn't Argentos worst work (Phantom of The Opera anyone?) but it's far from his best. Although the last 20 or so minutes really kick ass, everything before that is only interesting thanks to it's visual flair. Only Argento can put a razor wielding Chimpanzee, an insane mutant dwarf and a insect controlling girl in a movie and make it completely and utterly rational.--Sonny Fernandez (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
While there's a few somewhat muddled moments and the plot tends to sway in credibility at times; this is still a totally watchable time with lots of alright mood scattered throughout, Argento's always eccentrically stylized direction and a finale that not only adds some menace and has the memorable 'pit' moment it also manages to bump this up a half-a-star in rating. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)

Overly complicated Argento film that stands out as one of the director's worst. ... Worth catching if you're a hardcore Argento fan. Otherwise, pass.-- (eSplatter.com)
