Tony Lawrence comes from a once-distinguished Philadelphia family. He is unaware that before he was born, his mother's scandalous behavior had caused the family to fall from grace. Tony, who values the family's good name, possesses the determination and ambition to restore it to its former glory. This means getting involved in many unprincipled activities, but, by the end, Tony finally learns a lesson in brotherly love.
