NATALIE MENDOZA plays Juno. Juno is the leader of the trip, tough, compelling and always looking for adventure. She is Sarah’s best and oldest friend, but incapable of dealing with her friend’s grief, and secretly harboring grief and guilt of her own, she has not seen Sarah for almost a year.
Juno is determined that the trip will be special and the start of happier times for Sarah, but it is exactly these good intentions which lead the girls to their inevitable doom. Natalie says of Juno: “Juno is a mass of contradictions. She’s fearless, but she’s completely cowardly as well. She has this ability to focus really well, but then when it comes to anything emotional, she loses it. Typically, she decides that she’s going to make everything better in the group by taking them on the adventure of a lifetime. She thinks it’s an amazing gift that she’s giving to her friends, but of course she hasn’t thought it through. Her intentions are always good, she’s got this big heart, but she never thinks anything through to the end. And she pays for it basically. She pays for it big time. “
