Synopses for A Star Is Born (1937)
1.
The beautifully shot A STAR IS BORN recounts a tragic Hollywood tale of fame and misfortune. As young Esther Blodgett (Janet Gaynor) rises to stardom, her husband, former leading man Norman Maine (Fredric March), is in the midst of a heartbreakingly rapid decline. Gaynor is both genuine and funny as the small-town girl who loses her one great love while she pursues another, and March is perfect as the passé alcoholic has-been. The film received six Academy Award nominations and won a special award for its color cinematography.

Hollywood
Esther Blodgett is just another starry-eyed farm girl trying to break into the movies. She catches the eye of alcoholic star Norman Maine and is given a screen test. From there she's caught up in the Hollywood glamour machine (which is ruthlessly satirized in the film). She and her idol Norman marry...but his career abruptly dwindles to nothing as hers takes off.

A Silver Screen Collector's Edition
The original, and many would say best, version of this film. Fredric March gives one of his best performances ever as a famous leading man whose career is on the wane. As his fame fades, his young wife is already well on her way to stardom. A truly poignant story.
