NATASCHA McELHONE (Terry Huston) recently completed shooting for Steven Soderbergh’s Solaris, in which she stars opposite George Clooney. McElhone was first made famous on the screen in James Ivory’s Surviving Picasso, in which her interpretation of Françoise Gilot showcased her abilities and rare sensitivity. She was Jim Carrey’s blonde muse in The Truman Show by Peter Weir, appeared opposite Robert De Niro in John Frankenheimer’s Ronin and also played opposite Brad Pitt in The Devil’s Own.
McElhone can be seen in the upcoming Laurel Canyon, which premiered at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and co-starred Frances McDormand, Christian Bale and Kate Beckinsdale. She will also be seen later this year in Chen Kaige’s first American movie, Killing Me Softly, opposite Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes and in City of Ghosts, Matt Dillon’s first film as director, in which she appears opposite Dillon and James Caan.
McElhone was born in Hampstead (London) and graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She began acting on the stage in 1993, and early stage performances include starring roles in such classics as The Count of Monte Cristo, The Cherry Orchard, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard III. McElhone’s other credits include Mrs. Galloway and Kenneth Branagh’s musical version of Love’s Labour’s Lost.
