Guy Pearce in Count of Monte Cristo, The (2002)

After saving Edmond’s life, Fernand Mondego, portrayed by GUY PEARCE, reveals his true colors when he conspires to have his friend imprisoned in the island prison Chateau D’If and steal his fiancée.

The English born, Australian raised actor began his professional career at 18 playing the role of Mike Young in the internationally successful Australian TV series, "Neighbors." At age 11, not knowing that a career as an actor was to become an integral part of his life, Pearce joined local amateur theatre companies performing in a number of productions including "Aladdin," "The King and I," "The Wizard of Oz" and "Fiddler On The Roof" in his hometown of Geelong, Victoria. During his four-year stint on "Neighbors," Pearce began working in film appearing in "Heaven Tonight," "Hunting," and "My Forgotten Man," in which he played the notoriously infamous Errol Flynn.

It was his outstanding performance as a drag queen in "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" that made the movie world sit up and take notice. Since then, Pearce has continued playing diverse roles such as the ambitious cop Ed Exley in Curtis Hanson’s "L.A. Confidential," the reluctant army captain, Boyd, in Antonia Bird’s "Ravenous," an aspiring singer opposite Lili Taylor in Toni Kalem’s "A Slipping-Down Life," and Marine prosecuting attorney, Biggs, in William Friedkin’s "Rules of Engagement." He most recently appeared in Christopher Nolan’s "Memento" and the Australian movie "Till Human Voices Wake Us" with Helena Bonham Carter. He will soon star in a new feature-film adaptation of "The Time Machine" and the Australian film "The Hard Word" with Rachel Griffiths.
