JAMES GANDOLFINI (Colonel Winter) currently stars in the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series, "The Sopranos," which is now in its third season on HBO. His portrayal of mob boss Tony Soprano has brought him an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor in a Television Series. He has also been honored with two more Emmy nominations, the latest coming this year, as well as another Golden Globe nomination for his work on the show.

On the big screen, Gandolfini has appeared in more than 20 motion pictures. He made his feature film debut in Sidney Lumet's "A Stranger Among Us," followed by "Money For Nothing," Anthony Minghella's "Mr. Wonderful," and "True Romance," which marked his first teaming with director Tony Scott. Scott later cast him in the hit action thriller "Crimson Tide," with Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman.

His additional film credits include Joel Schumacher's "8MM" with Nicolas Cage and Joaquin Phoenix; Steven Zaillian's "A Civil Action," starring John Travolta and Robert Duvall; Peter Chelsom's "The Mighty" opposite Sharon Stone; Nick Cassavetes' "She's So Lovely," starring Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn; Gregory Hoblit's "Fallen" with Denzel Washington; Sidney Lumet's "Night Falls On Manhattan" with Andy Garcia and Lena Olin; Brian Gibson's "The Juror," starring Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore; Barry Sonnenfeld's "Get Shorty," starring John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo and Danny DeVito; French director Alain Corneau's "Le Nouveau Monde," starring Alicia Silverstone; "Terminal Velocity" with Charlie Sheen; and Martha Coolidge's "Angie," starring Geena Davis. He also joined the ensemble cast of Showtime's "Twelve Angry Men," for director William Friedkin.

A native of New Jersey, Gandolfini graduated from Rutgers University before beginning his acting career in New York City. Following roles in a number of off- Broadway plays, he made his Broadway debut in the 1992 revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire," with Alec Baldwin and Jessica Lange.
