Plot: This charming tale of a boy's evolving relationship with his grandfather stars Peter Falk as Rocky, a crusty and stubborn old man who raises his grandson, Michael (D.B.Sweeney), after the boy loses his parents at a young age. In 1960s Pittsburgh, Michael grows up under Rocky's watchful eye, eventually becoming a doctor working in Ohio. But when Rocky gets evicted from his apartment of 50 years, Michael has no choice but to let the man move in with him. Much to Rocky's chagrin, the two grown men share Michael's cramped bachelor pad in a touching and hysterical reunion. The old codger wastes no time in creating friction, arguing incessantly with Michael about his lifestyle, including his relationship with girlfriend Beth (Julianne Moore). While Rocky does eventually settle down and begin working at a bakery, his grandson decides to make some significant changes in his life that will affect his grandfather. Despite their generational differences, the two men grudgingly learn valuable lessons from each other in this bittersweet comedy. Peter Falk gives a fabulously diverse performance, aging more than half a century during the duration of the film, which was based on screenwriter Max Apple's real-life experiences captured in the book ROOMMATES: MY GRANDFATHER'S STORY.
