The biggest drawback of this entry is that it takes itself way too seriously at times, and unintentional humor was one of the best charms of the series all along. Instead of being lovably cheesy, Jason Goes to Hell opts instead for less funny - but very cool nonetheless - horror movie in-jokes.--Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
This isn't a bad little sequel and certainly gets marks for not only having the most grue of the series but also for trying to at least have some sort of plot. ... a watchable time for fans despite the fact the last third is a little sloppily scripted and the finale is quite silly. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
For a while, it looked like "Jason Goes to Hell" would really be the ultimate anti-climax to a long-running and popular series. ... We advise you steer clear from this awful mark on the "Friday" franchise.-- (eSplatter.com)
Fans can be so fickle. This series has never been made to be taken seriously. I love pointing out plot holes just like the lot of you, but these films are all about plot holes. -- (Bloody-Disgusting.com)

This is a tough call…as a movie that has nothing to do with the Friday The 13th film, this is an ok action/horror opus with lots of gore and nudity. But as a Friday The 13th sequel, this one misses the boat, betraying the die hard fans and straying too far from it’s source... --'The Arrow' (Arrow)
