Plot: Marianne (Meg Tilly) has been a wanderer all her life--moving constantly, changing jobs, and falling for the wrong men. When she arrives in the tiny town of Normal, Wyoming, to marry her new sweetheart, she's sure that her life is going to change forever. She's right, but not about her husband. Marianne quickly learns that her new beau is a mistake and hits the road. Headed out of town, she meets Darly (Christine Lahti), an older, cynical cocktail waitress, on her way to Alaska, who agrees to give her a ride. Determined to let fate decide their route, they set out for Darly's abandoned home in Alaska with dreams of starting over. The two mismatched travelers quickly become friends and offer each other comfort and support in a series of wild and crazy misadventures. Once they arrive in Alaska, they are shocked to discover that Darly's home was never finished, leaving the women with a huge choice: Do they stay and try to rebuild their new home, or do they leave and do what they do best--run? Marianne is shocked to discover that she likes her new life in Alaska, while Darly is haunted by dark secrets from her past. Ultimately, it's up to Marianne to prove to Darly that they can start over and build a home for themselves in director Edward Zwick's delightfully charming and funny
